28-Week Prayer Guide
Freedom
This week’s prayer focus is “Freedom.” Freedom is experiencing an intimate relationship with God and walking in the truth of who He is and who He says we are – our identity in Christ. However, this life of freedom is a journey. We have brokenness, sin, lies that we believe and walls within us that separate us from living in freedom.
Scripture tells us in Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners.”
The prayers we pray this week are an invitation for Jesus to heal us, restore us, and set us free. As God’s sons and daughters, we were created to live in an intimate relationship with God and freedom is about restoring intimacy with God.

April 11
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
— Matthew 11:28-30
REMINDER: Jesus tells us to come to Him and that He will give us rest. The first step in receiving the rest that Jesus offers is to accept His invitation to come to Him. This is where more spiritual warfare occurs than we may recognize. Jesus invites us to come, and the enemy quickly distracts us, lies to us, or entices us in some manner that hinders us from responding to the invitation from Jesus.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– What do you need “rest” from today? What burdens are you carrying? Are you performing, striving for approval, trying to be good enough? Accept Jesus’s invitation to be with Him. Surrender whatever has a grip on you to Him and receive His rest.
– Ask Jesus to make you aware of His invitation to come to Him. Ask Jesus to expose how the enemy is interfering with you responding to His invitation. And ask Jesus to help you say yes to His invitation.
– Tell Jesus that you need Him and that you love Him. Offer prayers of love and gratitude to the One who set you free and invites you to receive His rest.
