28-Week Prayer Guide

Freedom

This week’s prayer focus is “Freedom.” Freedom is experiencing an intimate relationship with God and walking in the truth of who He is and who He says we are – our identity in Christ. However, this life of freedom is a journey. We have brokenness, sin, lies that we believe and walls within us that separate us from living in freedom.

Scripture tells us in Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord God is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners.”

The prayers we pray this week are an invitation for Jesus to heal us, restore us, and set us free. As God’s sons and daughters, we were created to live in an intimate relationship with God and freedom is about restoring intimacy with God.

Week 6
Day 1

April 7

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

— John 8:32

REMINDER: In Genesis 3, the enemy’s plan to destroy our relationship with God is revealed. The enemy lied to Adam and Eve about God. They believed the lie and followed the enemy into sin and hid from God in their fear and shame. Just as Adam and Eve believed the enemy’s lies and hid, we believe lies and hide from God.  We may not hide behind fig leaves but the walls of performance, addiction, shame, fear, pride, etc. accomplish the same goal of the enemy. Intimacy with God is stolen. Yet, Jesus came for us, set us free and made it possible for our hearts to be restored to God.

TODAY’S PRAYER:

–  Psalm 23 is a beautiful picture of intimacy with God.  Slowly read Psalm 23 and receive the healing and freedom that Jesus offers you today.

        Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have what I need.
He lets me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside quiet waters.
He renews my life;
he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
as long as I live

–  Is there a word or verse in Psalm 23 that stood out to you? Ask God to help you receive His truth that will set you free.

–   As we focus on freedom prayers this week, what do you want God to do in your relationship with Him?  Tell Him what you want and or need and ask God to set you free to walk in a more intimate relationship with Him.
