Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”
Parenting can be exhausting! But what if we are wearing ourselves out on things that have no eternal significance and missing out on what we should really be focused on? There’s nothing wrong with spending time and energy on academics, sports, music, dance, etc. It’s just easy to get priorities out of order. This week as we pray, ask the Lord to open your eyes to see where your energy is going and ask for His guidance to adjust your priorities if needed.

“And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”

REMINDER: Life is hard! We face a lot of hard decisions and challenges. Parenting is tough. God knows that we need other believers to walk through life together to hold us accountable and to help carry us through the rough times. Kids need solid believing friends to walk through life with as well. God tells us to gather together with other believers for these very reasons. Is gathering together on Sundays for worship and Bible study a given in your home? Do your kids know that it’s a high priority?
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Pray that you won’t allow anything to take priority over gathering with other believers.
– Thank God for living in a place where worshipping God with others is accessible.
– Pray for Christian friends for yourself and your children.
