30-Day Devotional

DAY 6

February 4

“In our world of strangers, estranged from their own past, culture and country, from their neighbors, friends and family, from their deepest self and their God, we witness a painful search for a hospitable place where life can be lived without fear and where community can be found.”

— Henri Nouwen

“o lord, you have searched me and know me! you know when i sit down and when i rise up; You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.”
psalm 137:1-3 esv

TODAY’S PRAYER THOUGHT
Our friends, neighbors, families have been and are suffering from Isolation, depression, loneliness, suicidal ideation and more. There are 8 billion people in this crowded world and yet we are more polarized, isolated and lonely than ever before. But there is hope. For there is a God who knows us, who created all of humanity for community, relationship with Him and each other. As His people, the church, we are a community who offer the gift of hospitality, welcoming home a seeking, searching, suffering world.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR GOD’S PEOPLE
1. Lord, give us, as your people, open arms that invite our hurting world to experience community and connection with Christ and His church. 2. Lord, open our eyes that we might see, hear and respond with love to those longing for You.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE ON YOUR LIST
Lord, for all those on my list, I pray that they will see their need for you and open up their hearts to hear the truth. Lord, for all those on my list, I pray that fear will find faith and loneliness will find the You oh Lord!
