Go Beyond At Home
28-Week Prayer Guide
serving and giving
Each of us has a purpose in God’s plan. God makes it evident through His Word that our purposes go beyond selfish limitations into serving others in many different ways. This week let’s hear from the Lord through Scripture and prayer as we consider how we can give more of ourselves to serve Him.
Week 25
Day 3
August 20
“Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.“
— Colossians 3:23-24
REMINDER: Do it all from the heart?! Sure, that sounds easy enough, but can it really be done? We’ve all encountered someone having a hard day at their place of work. Sometimes we get the brunt of it, sometimes we are the cause of it. Other times, we are that person having a hard time with finding joy. In this passage we learn that whatever we do, it should be done from the heart as an act of service to the Lord. Why? Doing this is the outflowing of a life changed by the grace of God. When this is the posture of our heart, others can sense the Holy Spirit in us. Think about your least favorite tasks in your weekly rhythm and pray about it now.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Ask the Lord to show you how you can praise Him in your work.
– Confess any areas or attitudes of your daily work that are not pleasing to Him.
– Thank God for the work you have, both occupationally and at home, and praise Him for His provision.
