28-Week Prayer Guide
praying for the lost
This week we will be focusing our collective prayers as a church on reaching the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ. This is one of the greatest functions of the body of Christ and in an incredible display of mercy and grace, God uses the saved to reach the unsaved through the work of the Holy Spirit. He alone gets the glory for this work, and it is only by his work in us that we can participate. This work is ongoing, and the need is great, but we serve a mighty God who delights in the lost being found.
Week 21
Day 2
July 22
“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
— 1 Timothy 2:1-4
REMINDER: Scripture teaches us that we are to pray for everyone… not just for ourselves and not just for the people that we like or the people that like us. The reality is that non-Christians typically don’t act like Christians. Why would we expect otherwise!? This means we are being invited to pray for people that may not act like us, talk like us or want to be friends with us. So next time someone acts like they don’t know Jesus, it may be because they don’t and that can be your cue to join with the heart of God and pray, they would be saved.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Pray that you would offer grace, patience and understanding to those who don’t know Jesus.
– Pray that you would be an example of God’s love for the lost, to the lost.
– Pray for those in authority over you would follow Jesus.
