28-Week Prayer Guide
praying for the lost
This week we will be focusing our collective prayers as a church on reaching the lost with the good news of Jesus Christ. This is one of the greatest functions of the body of Christ and in an incredible display of mercy and grace, God uses the saved to reach the unsaved through the work of the Holy Spirit. He alone gets the glory for this work, and it is only by his work in us that we can participate. This work is ongoing, and the need is great, but we serve a mighty God who delights in the lost being found.
Week 21
Day 1
July 21
“Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation.”
— Romans 10:1
REMINDER: While there are many worthy prayer concerns to be considered each day, none may be as valuable as praying for those who do not have a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Paul shows us in the beginning of Romans 10 that he has a deep concern for the salvation of the Israelites. We would do well to also concern ourselves with the salvation of those who do not know they need that very salvation.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Pray that God shows the lost that they are indeed lost.
– Pray that the unsaved would see and feel the weight of their own sin as well as its temporal and eternal consequences.
– Pray for those who have mistakenly convinced themselves that their righteous deeds have made them righteous before God.
