Go Beyond At Home
28-Week Prayer Guide
Mission Endeavors
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NASB)
The last command of Jesus was a command to evangelize (read also Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15, John 20:21). We are still under obligation to obey this command; it has not been repealed. There are no exemptions to obedience by virtue of our age, gender, rank, race, or riches. Nor can we substitute anything in place of this command. Regardless of whatever else we may do in the church and for the kingdom, these things are to be done in addition to but not in place of evangelism. Determine to look for opportunities to share the story of Jesus with those whom God puts in your path.
Week 20
Day 5
July 18
”’Father,’ he said, ‘then I beg you to send him to my father’s house — because I have five brothers — to warn them, so that they won’t also come to this place of torment.’”
— Luke 16:27-28
REMINDER: The parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31) paints an awful picture of the terrible reality of hell. If we could intrude into the depths of hell with a listening device we would hear a distinct call to evangelism, pleading with us— “Go and tell my brothers and warn them…”. Many will never see heaven because we have never seen hell. Many will never hear and respond to the voice of God because you and I have not heard and responded to the cries from hell.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Ask God to make you aware of the reality of the eternal destiny of those who do not place their faith in Christ for salvation.
– Ask God to give you a greater sense of urgency about sharing with others how to enter into a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
– Imagine what familiar voices might cry out to you to tell others how to avoid a godless eternity.
– Ask God to give you ears to listen to the cries of those in need of Christ.
