Go Beyond At Home
28-Week Prayer Guide
Mission Endeavors
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NASB)
The last command of Jesus was a command to evangelize (read also Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15, John 20:21). We are still under obligation to obey this command; it has not been repealed. There are no exemptions to obedience by virtue of our age, gender, rank, race, or riches. Nor can we substitute anything in place of this command. Regardless of whatever else we may do in the church and for the kingdom, these things are to be done in addition to but not in place of evangelism. Determine to look for opportunities to share the story of Jesus with those whom God puts in your path.
Week 20
Day 4
July 17
”But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
— Acts 1:8
REMINDER: In His last recorded statement on earth, Jesus gave His disciples a task rather than a timetable. He charged them with the responsibility of being His witnesses from their hometown to the ends of the earth. In order to be an effective witness, we must depend on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. We must keep in mind that divine work can only be done in dependence upon divine power.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Thank God for the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.
– Ask the Holy Spirit to empower your life moment by moment.
– Ask God to open your eyes to opportunities to share with others regardless of where you are.
– Always keep in mind that you are the only Jesus some may ever meet.
