Go Beyond At Home

28-Week Prayer Guide

Parents and Children

Deuteronomy 6:4-9  “Listen, Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”

Parenting can be exhausting! But what if we are wearing ourselves out on things that have no eternal significance and missing out on what we should really be focused on? There’s nothing wrong with spending time and energy on academics, sports, music, dance, etc.  It’s just easy to get priorities out of order. This week as we pray, ask the Lord to open your eyes to see where your energy is going and ask for His guidance to adjust your priorities if needed.

Week 10
Day 4

May 8

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”

— Psalm 103:13

REMINDER: We don’t deserve God’s grace and forgiveness, but God had compassion on us and sent Jesus to die in our place. Likewise, we are called to have compassion on our children. They are growing up in a world very different from the one we grew up in. Christian values are being attacked on many fronts. It is imperative that we teach our children God’s truth from an early age so they are equipped to battle the lies of the enemy. When they stumble, we need to be compassionate and gently redirect them.

TODAY’S PRAYER:

–  Pray for a compassionate heart for your children.

–  Thank God for His Word to guide us.

–  Pray for your children to hear God’s truth over the lies of the enemy.

–  Pray for the Lord to have compassion on your children.
