Go Beyond At Home
28-Week Prayer Guide
Mission Endeavors
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NASB)
The last command of Jesus was a command to evangelize (read also Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15, John 20:21). We are still under obligation to obey this command; it has not been repealed. There are no exemptions to obedience by virtue of our age, gender, rank, race, or riches. Nor can we substitute anything in place of this command. Regardless of whatever else we may do in the church and for the kingdom, these things are to be done in addition to but not in place of evangelism. Determine to look for opportunities to share the story of Jesus with those whom God puts in your path.
Week 20
Day 7
July 20
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.”
— Isaiah 6:8
REMINDER: Centuries after Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord, a young man named William Carey also heard God’s voice. This young man was under the conviction that the Great Commission was directed to every believer and still operative. Many of his contemporaries felt otherwise. In 1792, Carey left the comforts of home to take the gospel to India and unwittingly launched the modern missionary movement.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
– Ask God to make you sensitive to the sound of His divine voice.
– Ask Him to open your eyes to those who live at the other end of the Great Commission, still waiting to hear the good news.
– Ask Him to give you an assignment to take the gospel across the street or across the globe.
– Like Carey, be willing to attempt great things for God and to expect great things from God.
