When disaster strikes, chaos immediately follows. The people impacted by a disaster are overwhelmed by the sudden loss of property and even life. Within minutes, a disaster can destroy or jeopardize access to our most basic needs — shelter, food, water, and sanitation. Our Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief Team (TBM-DR) stands ready to respond to short-term emergencies and the long-term ramifications of disasters. We are ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus in times of greatest need.
Marcell Hunt serves as Kingsland's Disaster Relief Coordinator. Marcell has been a unit leader for TBM-DR since 2016 and has served on numerous deployments for flood/fire recovery, chainsaw, and box units since then. He currently is the primary point of contact for Kingsland's chainsaw and heavy equipment teams and is the overall coordinator for Kingsland with TBM-DR. In addition to chainsaw and heavy equipment units, Kingsland has a box unit (Ted Whiteman is the unit leader), flood/fire recovery unit (Phil & Susan Clasen are the unit leaders), and a cooking team (Gene Garrison is the leader). Additionally some of our Kingsland members serve as chaplains.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can join our team, please begin by completing our brief online survey. Once you have completed the survey, we will add your name to our group to receive notifications about training, mobilization, and response. Thank you for your interest, involvement, and determination to serve others in times of their greatest need.
