30-Day Devotional

DAY 15

february 13

“Make us worthy, Lord, to serve others throughout the world who live and die in poverty or hunger. Give them, through our hands, this day their daily bread, and by our understanding love, give peace and joy.”

— Mother Teresa of Calcutta

“for as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead”
james 2:26 esv

TODAY’S PRAYER THOUGHT
Look around and it won’t take long for your eyes to gaze upon a need. A person, created in the image of God, suffering under the weight of a fallen and broken world, in need of love, compassion and real action on your part. Your faith leads you to the margins where suffering is served and God’s heart is on display through your actions as one who calls Jesus, Lord. To proclaim a faith in Jesus, a belief in the living God without a care or concern for the suffering of the poor, the thirsty, the marginalized, might cause you to reflect upon the purpose of your faith and prayers when they are not accompanied by our compassionate obedience?

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR GOD’S PEOPLE
1. Lord, may Your heart move our hearts to act in faith with compassion, service and love to those in need all around us.
2. Lord, may our gospel prayers be put to action in our words and deeds, meeting people where they are.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE ON YOUR LIST
Father, for each and every person on my list, I would ask today for a divine encounter with one of your children who will show them compassion and kindness in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit, for each and every person on my list, draw them to You!
