Preschool Policies

Babies and Toddlers (0 – 24 months)

  • Before arrival, please see that the following items belonging to your child are properly labeled:
    ~ Diaper bag ~ Pacifiers
    ~ Diapers ~ Sippee Cups
    ~ Bottles ~ Clothing/Blankets
  • Infants will be fed milk, juice or water as provided and according to instructions given by parents. Time and circumstances do not allow for spoon feeding.
  • Bring plastic bottles with pre-measured formula mix. Nursing mothers should always take a pager or supply 4 oz. of milk or formula in a labeled bottle.
  • Silent pagers are available for checkout at your child’s classroom door.
  • Please provide an adequate supply of diapers (we supply wet wipes) and an extra change of clothes.
  • Special instructions for your child can be written on the child information sheet at the door. Knowing what time he/she needs to eat or sleep will help your child have a happy morning. Please note reflux problems or special needs on this form.
  • Age-appropriate, peanut free snacks are provided to children who are developmentally ready to chew. (Cheerios, Ritz Crackers). Please indicate in writing any allergies your child may have. Allergy alert stickers are available at check-in stations.
  • A mother’s room with televised sermon and changing facilities is provided. A nursery coordinator will be happy to help you locate the mother’s room.
  • Toys, swings, and beds are cleaned with a disinfecting solution at the end of each session. Sheets, blankets and teachers’ smocks are changed and washed.
  • Babies, crawlers and toddlers will be transferred to older departments as they mature and are able to adjust to the older group. You will be notified if your child is to be promoted to another class.

Two's Through Kindergarten

  • Pagers are available at the Crawford check-in desk by request.
  • Two year olds should always bring a change of clothing each time they come to church. Accidents sometimes happen and they are much happier in their own clothing. Please label all items.
  • Peanut free snacks and water are provided for snacktime. Please indicate in writing any allergies your child may have. Allergy alert stickers are available at check-in stations. Other foods/snacks should not be brought into the preschool classroom.
  • Personal toys should be left at home. Planned Bible learning activities will keep your child happy and busy.
  • Twos/threes - We offer outside playground time during both Bible Study hours for two and three year olds, weather permitting. Music class is scheduled during the 2nd or 3rd Bible Study hour.
  • Two and three year old class assignments are made according to birthdate. Promotion for this age group is scheduled each fall.
  • PreK/Kindergarten - Activities include an outside playground time during one Bible Study hour and music praise time the opposite hour for fours through Kindergarten.
  • PreK (fours) and Kindergarten promote to new classrooms in the fall each year.

Health Policies

To protect your child and other children, a child who appears ill or has been ill in the preceding 24 hours should not be brought to a preschool room. Children need to be free of fever and without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before coming into contact with other children. A child should not be brought to church when the following exists:

  • Common Cold (green, runny nose)
  • Fever (must be free of fever for 24 hours)
  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea (for any reason) within the previous 24 hours
  • Any symptom of the usual childhood diseases – scarlet fever, chicken pox, etc.
  • Sore throat
  • Croup/frequent cough
  • Any unexplained rash
  • Any skin infection – boils, ringworm, impetigo
  • Pink eye and other eye infections

If your child comes down with an infectious disease within 24 hours of attending KBC, please inform the Preschool Ministry Office. When a disease that is easily spread from one person to another is confirmed, parents and teachers will be notified.
