Preparing for Marriage

Milestone 7: Preparing and Growing Marriages that reflect the image of God.

Marriage Preparation is essential in building a marriage that reflects the image of God and lasts a lifetime. Kingsland's Preparing for Marriage Program equips couples with biblical and practical tools necessary to build a Christ-centered marriage.

In order to be married at Kingsland or be married by a Kingsland pastor at another venue, you must complete one of the four options we offer in our Preparing for Marriage Program.

Preparing for Marriage Program Options

Option 1: Marriage Mentors + two hours individual couple counseling using Uniquely United Personality Assesment on-line test.

  • Marriage Mentoring: The engaged couple will meet with an older, more experienced couple approximately six times and use the "I Promise" workbook by Strong Marriages.
  • Kingsland will assign you to a trained mentor couple.
  • This option depends upon availability of our marriage mentors. To set up mentoring, contact Jessica Molinari at (281) 675-7862 or jmolinari@kingsland.org.
  • $35 for Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.

Option 2: Pre-Marriage Counseling at Kingsland: six hours + two hours couple counseling using Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.

  • Pre-Marriage Counseling: The engaged couple meets with a counselor 3 to 4 times for a total of 6 hours.
  • The sessions will cover the material from the Altarations Premarital Seminar.
  • For counseling appointments, call Jessica Molinari at (281) 675-7862 or jmolinari@kingsland.org
  • $90 for six hours of couple counseling.
  • $35 for Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.

Option 3: Take an approved workshop from another church + two hours individual couple counseling using Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.

  • Pre-Approved Premarital Workshop: This option may be more appealing to couples who do not physically live in the Katy area and yet want to be married at Kingsland. This option allows the couple to attend a premarital workshop that is approved by Kingsland. A written document which highlights the topics covered and that is signed by the workshop facilitator must be submitted no later than 45 days prior to the wedding.
  • $35 for Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.
  • $30 for individualized couple counseling.

Option 4: Altarations Premarital Seminar + two hours individualized couple counseling using Uniquely United Personality Assessment online test.

  • Altarations Premarital Seminar: This is a six hour class that is offered on a Saturday. The class covers the following topics:
    • God's design for Marriage
    • Issues and Expectations
    • Communication
    • Conflict Resolution
    • Commitment
    • Forgiveness
    • Fun and Friendship
    • Spiritual and Sexual Intimacy
  • $50 per couple for Altarations.
  • $35 for the Uniquely United Personality Assessment on-line test.
  • Contact Jessica Molinari at jmolinari@kingsland.org for information regarding the next Altarations class.

TWOGETHER IN Texas

Kingsland's Preparing for Marriage Program is an approved program of Twogether in Texas. Couples who complete both components of Preparing for Marriage Program will save $60 on their marriage license. Upon completion of the program, you will get a certificate that you can take to your county clerk to save $60 on a marriage license. And you won't have to wait 72 hours to be married. The waiting period is waived for couples who complete the course.

*Note* We require that you schedule your wedding at least 90 days in advance so you have time to complete the Preparing for Marriage process.

Becoming One
