Jesus is the most controversial figure in history. Few doubt that a historical man named Jesus existed 2000 years ago. Few doubt He made a serious impression on those who followed Him. And it is impossible to ignore the impact those followers made which quite literally changed the world. Modern calendars bear witness to the memory of Jesus of Nazareth from major annual celebrations (Christmas, Easter) to the year itself. The controversy exists around the deity of Jesus Christ. Was He God or simply a good man?
Pages and pages could be written apologetically defending the life of Jesus Christ. Evidence such as the witnesses of Jesus following His resurrection from the dead, the archeological evidence reaffirming the truth of the Bible, the undisputed miracles of the Bible (even by contemporary authors in Jesus' time), and prophecy concerning the specifics of Jesus' death and resurrection written hundreds of years prior to the event all lend credence to truth of Jesus Christ. The evidence is enormous.
The question is, "What will you do with this Jesus?" The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, sent to humanity to provide redemption. Sin, (anything against God) corrupts completely and separates men and women from a relationship with a holy and good God. A sacrifice was needed that would overcome sin, enabling the relationship between God and His creation to be restored. Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and died as a sacrifice for the sins of humanity. Three days later, the Bible teaches that Jesus rose from the dead, thereby conquering both sin and death. Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ and receive Him as Lord and Savior will forever live with God in heaven following this life. They will restore their relationship with God and life forever changes.
Jesus is the crux of the Christian Faith. He is the central teaching of the Bible. But the question is not, "who is Jesus to you?" He is the same yesterday, today, and every day in the future. Jesus is God. The real question is, "Will you receive Him as your Lord and Savior?"
Here's what the Bible says:
Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 5:8 "but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 10:9-10 "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."
